about

This week, MalLabel Music has another hot EP from the beautiful islands of West Coast, Canada. Victoria, British Columbia's WERK has all the sauce to show you how to get down in the only region in Canada not covered in snow after the storm.

It seems every year when the rain hits in the West Coast you can expect serious freshness from this man in a winter's heartbeat. From festival bassbins to the studio and back with another tripped out, mind-bending collection playing with your brain while you get your game on. Taking a turn from the darkness, Werk's latest EP takes this excursion to the back of the mind and in the space between waking life and something more. Vide's inspired vibes are well rounded off by uplifting rhythms, other times by that bouncin' 808 and at times get pushed down the well of his signature creepshow psychedelia.

As usual Werk takes us on a proper storyline opening up with 'Golden Sedan' and all the rhythm changes, fake-out intros and moving, edgy vocals that raise this track up to the level of excellence maintained by it's elegant complexity. 'Mink' chucks just a touch of hood into the mix with an trippy little ghetto, feel-good vibe before 'Ganter' gets the creep on with rising notations overshadowed by haunting atmospheres and effects. Finally, the title track takes us straight into the void as it rolls deep into the recesses of the cosmic background. If you like a side of trippin' balls with your head nod, y'all need this in you!
