This week MalLabel Music is bringing you something fly from the 'show me' state's city of fountains and boulevards. Time to hot drop the latest and greatest from Kansas City, Missouri's finest in experimental bass, Chilling Spree.
Chilling Spree has been dropping laboratory test subject bass all over the place for over two years now and 'Bass' is about as close to a genre as he's proposed to bother classifying and I can't say we'd disagree with that. From chill beats to fat bass and the bleak to the beautiful, there isn't really anything he's not willing to explore. His creative instincts have led him to a prolific range of original creations and remixes that defy classification in one way or another and his latest EP would tell you the same story.
The Blank EP can be described best as a sonic experience with each of the three tracks taking a very different journey through your psyche. 'Boomerang' drops you right into a twisted version of reality with a multitude of endlessly rising synth arpeggios, vocal stabs and various other tripped out madness atop a tribalesque rhythm and some warming 808. 'Ice Kream' goes straight digital in this brain scrambling, hood rich expression of ambient exploration. The final track “Porkchop Express' takes us into the machine a through an assembly line of psychedelic sound specimens riding an atmospheric wave of ominous awesomeness. That might seem like a mouthful, but when you hear it you'll understand it doesn't really do this unique little number any justice at all. If you are into creative music and sounds taking you on a journey in any way shape or form... you need this.
