Antioch California is known to most as the “home of the milk carton” but it is also home to Bay Are producer D3FB0T (known to some as Jet Wada.) Inspired by Hip Hop, Jet put his childhood piano training aside to rap around in high school. He eventually tied it all together when he started to create beats, eventually bringing his passion for Techno and House to Hip Hop production game. In a filthy fog of bass, D3FB0T’s high energy but melodically focused music is a welcome relief.
His latest EP “Th3 Plan” stitches the big room vibe to an underground sound. Deep and dark like that last moment before dawn at an all night warehouse party, these tracks shine like a raver’s dayglo jewels in a blacklight. Cavernous sirens and lasers piercing leads cut and slice through chopped and diced vocals. Ranging from west coast ganster rap to soul- ful burial style R&B, vocal arrangements move the groove along with classic trap tactics. The dubby drumbeats are slanky and spacey while driven by some twisted old fashioned 808 ratchet percussion. Any experienced extracurricularist knows very well that you need a strategy to stay out late and fortunately D3FBOT has made the plan.
