about

This week MalLabel Music has some of those teeth chipping snares and lip splitting kicks from California to Portugal as Twofold & Holly show us what it sounds like when Dubstep and Trap get wrung through the experimentalist machine.

Twofold has been bringing Future Bass to life before it even has a name with sprinklings of everything from Electro House bangers and Garage to the nastiest of Dubstep along the way. With one from San Francisco and another from Hove, UK, their musical ideas take Bass Music through a journey of transcontinental flavours. Lisbon's, Holly on the other hand has been defying genre classification all together with his blend of glitchy cuts and hybrid 808 subs taking Bass Music to a grimy new level. When this bunch gets together for an EP the best of all worlds and no worlds collide in an epic conflagration of laboratory experiments fuelled by arhythmic sound machines.

Palpitations opens up with an eerie twisting of digital strings before metallic glitches build into a monster of wildly manipulated bass tones and metal in 'Novella'. The breakdown sets a much deeper mood with vivid soundscapes created by manipulation of earlier elements before dropping a second coming of the wealth of grime. The second track, 'Darker Than Me' takes life inside the engines of the beast as it powers up and takes the darkness to a whole new level. Take your dance floor to the brink of madness and into the dark.
