about

This week we have a promise for you: Whether or not you currently like 8-bit video game tunes, after you hear the soundscapes and beauty laid in to every track on this new album, you will. With that pledge, MalLabel is stoked to bring you our newest artist, Potions.

Rockin' the sunny Santa Cruz scene into faraway lands on imaginary plains of chiptune awesomeness, Potions is bringing Hip-Hop into fantasy with a beautiful collection of abstract Trap. Their new album entitled 'II' is a whimsical adventure into the underground locals of familiar, yet phantasmal territory for anyone who has ever picked up a controller. This campaign takes us on to explore all the glitchy side roads beyond the original quests and emerges us into a land of beauty, fun and intrigue.

'Inner Dialogue' opens bright with inspirational tones and vocal manipulations into a crunky ride leading to a bouncy road trip of arpeggios and sexy plucks in 'Textures On The Ceiling'. 'Patterns' gets trippy with a more sinister dungeon feel bouncing into an elegant harmony of intertwining melodies in 'The Space In Between' before moving back to the creepshow with 'Lousy'. 'Corner Of Solano & Playa' takes a very sexy approach to a dream with reflected keys dancing gracefully around your mind just before 'Makeshift Palace' gets you really twisted up in the matrix. 'Purple Door' gets Hyphy with it and brings it back up for the orchestral and operetic manipulations of the alluring final track 'Haruko'. This is the kind of escape that only comes around so often, so get laid back and prepare for the ride.
