about

This week MalLabel Music is bringing you something so genuinely disparate that you may just have to sit down. Circling the Square is a journey through time and dimension in a style that only Chompa can achieve.

True to his axiom of delivering you music direct from an alternate dystopian reality or... perhaps an impending one, Circling the Square is as beautiful as it is captivating. Employing euphoric 80's style pads and throbbing 808 kicks resonating through the heart of each piece, Chompa creates an absolutely massive sense of space. Through this stunning depth of field his glitchy effects, arpeggios and intensely modulated keys bring forth a reality bending excursion into the imagination. As his vision takes you into the psyche of an individual trapped in Orwell's version of 1984, it becomes clear that his connection is real.

One could easily use this music to escape any situation, traveling through the mind and letting the soundscapes guide them through the æther. First, 'Antareus' is a lighthearted and bouncy ride paced by new school trap elements while 'Drum Circles' focuses on a much eerier melody accompanied by some light grime riding the 808 and our final track 'Eclipse' incorporates some Trip-Hop elements to create a psychedelic intensity. Each track in this truly unique EP is an intellectual ride, proliferating an aria where the only song sung resonates from deep within your consciousness.
